Implementation Strategy

The Rotary Safari for WASH project harnesses the goodwill, enthusiasm, and generosity of Rotarians and friends of Rotary who share a passion for travel and a commitment to social impact. While the initiative originated within the Rotary Club of Gayaza, its vision is global—to engage Rotarians and supporters worldwide who are eager to contribute to the cause of improving Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) infrastructure in Uganda’s public primary schools.

Membership and Engagement

To foster a strong and committed community of supporters, the Rotary Safari for WASH Fellowship invites Rotarians and guests to become members by paying an annual membership fee of USD 30 (or UGX 100,000). This membership not only supports the project financially but also connects like-minded individuals who are passionate about travel and community service.

Annual Safari Events

Each year, the fellowship organizes a signature safari event to a carefully selected destination within Uganda or the broader East African region. These safaris serve a dual purpose: they provide participants with unique travel and cultural experiences while raising critical funds to support WASH projects in identified schools. The destinations are chosen for their appeal and accessibility, ensuring an enriching experience for all participants.

Needs-Based School Selection

The beneficiary schools for each year’s fundraising efforts are selected through a rigorous needs assessment process. This ensures that the funds raised are directed to schools with the most urgent WASH infrastructure needs, maximizing the impact and relevance of the interventions.

Fundraising and Resource Mobilization

The funds generated from membership fees and safari participation fees form the core financial resources for the project. Additionally, the fellowship actively seeks partnerships and collaborations with corporates, non-governmental organizations, local governments, and other stakeholders to leverage additional resources, technical expertise, and advocacy support.

Monitoring and Reporting

To maintain transparency and accountability, the Rotary Safari for WASH project will implement a robust monitoring and evaluation framework. Progress reports and impact assessments will be shared regularly with members, donors, and stakeholders to demonstrate the positive changes brought about by their support.

This implementation strategy builds a sustainable and engaged community around the Rotary Safari for WASH project, ensuring continued momentum toward improving WASH infrastructure and enhancing educational outcomes in Uganda’s public schools.
